Apple Stores to Match Discounts on iPhones
Apple has announced that it will allow its retail employees to match prices offered by some of the big box chains for their devices. Apple is authorizing $49 discounts on their devices, which is very unusual for Apple seeing that they rarely discount their devices. Every now and then Apple will budge on their pricing to allow discounts for people in education such as students or teaching professionals. My guess is that they are willing to drop their prices so that they can keep the customers coming into their stores to buy their accessories and products and to also make sure their customers are offered the best apple provided service as possible, because as we know Apple likes to control everything from top to bottom. They can probably sacrifice $50 a handset to make sure they stay completely in the loop.
